"The SwiftUI Way" book update: expanded guidance on data flow and performance

I'm happy to share that I've released an update to my book The SwiftUI Way. This edition expands the coverage of SwiftUI data flow, view updates, and performance, and includes new guidance for changes introduced in Xcode 27.

The book is written for developers who are already working with SwiftUI and want to make more informed technical choices as their apps grow in complexity. It focuses on recommended patterns and subtle anti-patterns, explaining not only which approaches to choose but also why they align better with how SwiftUI works.

The updated edition expands the chapters on data dependencies and state management. It now covers how to create more stable custom bindings, how equality affects property tracking in observable models, and how to pass configuration, actions, and shared models through the environment without introducing unnecessary view updates. In addition, it explains how the change from the @State property wrapper to a macro in Xcode 27 affects observable model initialization.

I've also added more guidance on dynamic list performance, including why a complete Hashable value should not be used as an element's identity when its other properties can change.

If you already own the book, you can read the updated version online or download it from the book page. You can also view the release notes for a summary of the updated subchapters.

If you haven't picked up a copy yet, I'd love for you to check it out. The book brings together practical guidance for structuring production SwiftUI apps, minimizing unnecessary work, and avoiding implementation choices that can become difficult to correct later. All future updates are included with your purchase.
